Rice ball was pan-fried with crunchy texture, topped with a thick layer of uni abalone dashi soup was added to give extra umami. Chicken paella was unexpectedly good! Super crispy outside and juicy insidebut the rice was a bit dry and hard. every dish was surprisingly#cafe awesome except the dessert hahah

A lively holiday
At the Hong Kong Arts Centre in Wan Chai
A fascinating 'Yokai' painting exhibition
🌈 'Yokai Parade: Supernatural Monsters from Japan —— Yokai Parade'
📆 Date: 2024.04.05 - 2024.05.05 (Ended)
📍 Address: Pao Galleries, 4th to 5th floor, Hong Kong Arts Centre
This is a world tour exhibition of the Japanese Yokai Museum organized by the Japan Foundation for International Exchange, featuring a total of eighty-four exhibits that showcase the Yokai culture of Japan from ancient times to the present.
① Masterpieces by famous artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Kawakami Gyosai, and Shigeru Mizuki, with close-up viewing of scrolls and brocade pictures, with the Hyakki Yagyō (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons) being the most liked, where the lifelike Yokai leap off the paper
② Vivid Yokai models, with adorable Yokai squatting in corners
③ Fun AR installation for photo interaction, capturing the cute 'little Yokai' into photos (unfortunately, my phone is not equipped with )
This is an interesting immersive exhibition experience, where Yokai are no longer scary but become cute beings like pet monsters
Hmm, in the summer, go watch an animated film about Yokai.

The culture of Yokai in Japan has deep roots within Japanese culture👹, and it has also had a wide influence on cultures around the world. The Japan Yokai Museum (Miyoshi Mononoke Museum) is currently hosting the "Yokai Parade" touring exhibition, which has now come to the Hong Kong Arts Centre for a one-month period🤩.
The exhibition showcases many precious collections from the Japan Yokai Museum, including traditional woodblock prints and brocade pictures🖼️, as well as pop culture items like toys and movie posters🎬, introducing the influence of Japanese Yokai culture on Japan's literature, art, and pop culture, and its evolutionary journey from the Edo period to the present😌.
This exhibition also makes use of the different stair spaces across the floors of the Arts Centre to display various exhibits, allowing visitors to shuttle between different floors while deeply experiencing the profound impact of the cultural element of Japanese Yokai🥰.

The Hong Kong Arts Centre, nestled in the bustling neighborhood of Wan Chai, stands as a beacon of creativity and cultural expression in the heart of the city. My experience at the Arts Centre was a journey of discovery, as I explored its diverse galleries, attended performances, and immersed myself in the vibrant arts community that thrives within its walls.
As I entered the Hong Kong Arts Centre, I was immediately struck by its dynamic atmosphere, where artists and art enthusiasts alike gathered to celebrate the rich tapestry of creativity that defines Hong Kong's cultural landscape. The building itself is a masterpiece of modern design, with sleek lines and innovative architecture that complement the surrounding urban environment.
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the Arts Centre's galleries, which showcase a wide range of contemporary artwork from both local and international artists. From paintings and sculptures to multimedia installations and performance art, the exhibitions offered a thought-provoking glimpse into the diverse artistic visions that shape our world.
I was particularly drawn to the Arts Centre's commitment to supporting emerging artists and fostering dialogue within the arts community. Through its residency programs, workshops, and educational initiatives, the Arts Centre provides a platform for aspiring artists to hone their craft and share their work with the world.
Attending a performance at the Arts Centre was another unforgettable experience.
